Castleshaw Centre is Oldham Council’s Outdoor & Environmental Education Centre. We offer a wide range of activities designed to support the delivery of the curriculum. Most Oldham primary schools visit the centre for day visits which are designed to enhance and complement various aspects of the curriculum including science, history, geography and maths.
In addition we offer a range of activities designed to build confidence and lifeskills. The activities can be residential, single sessions or a longer term programme.

Young person comments:
The costing’s of these activities are really good value for money especially for a residential experience. Young people gain a wide number of essential life skills through participating in these opportunities and it enables young people to experience fun and enjoyable activities away from home and school. We think this would be the perfect opportunity for young people to be part of a residential who would not necessarily have the option to otherwise and would be a good activity to offer pupils as part of other essential life skills projects.
We really like the Twilight and summer holiday projects – these would be targeted at disadvantaged young people enabling them to experience opportunities out of normal school hours. We think these activities are enjoyable, engaging and fun and will support young people to develop skills for the future, build on self-esteem and confidence and give them the opportunity to make new friends.
